Madam Silk
Produced in partnership with Drapes Aeriens (France).
Madam Silk has three fantastic female aerial dancers performing this sensual piece. Chantal McCormick from Fidget Feet, Lindsey Butcher from Gravity and Levity (Brighton), and Jennifer Paterson from All or Nothing (Scotland). The renowned international aerialist, Fred Deb’, (Drapés Aériens) is the choreographer. Creating a world where the stage is filled with fabric, the women explore different ways of dancing in and suspending from it. This piece has a very different feel to some of Fidget Feet’s other work; Madam Silk has a beautiful French style. The music is composed and mixed live by Jym Daly. A fantastic set and new costumes from the award winning Paul Shriek.
Madam Silk has been made possible by a commission award from the Irish Arts Council for Fred Deb’, and Fidget Feet’s three month residency at Shawbrook, and Longford Dance Festival. Aerial rehearsal space is provided from the Backstage Theatre and free space in Legan local hall.
In October 2009, Madam Silk will continue its development at The Firkin Crane in Cork, Ireland, as part of a residency funded by Blank Canvas and the Irish Arts Council. Fred Deb’ will continue to choreograph Madam Silk into a full evening piece, adding film projections and findings ways for the dancers to dance in air and on the ground through a maze of imagery and animation.
Madam Silk will premiere in November 2009 at Balor Theatre, Donegal and as part of the Tralee Circus Festival at Siamsa Tire Theatre, Town Park, Tralee, Co Kerry.
Fidget Feet will tour Madam Silk to 14 venues throughout Ireland from April 26th to June 20th 2010, and run the first European Aerial Dance Forum as part of the tour.
There will be possible gigs in UK, France, Iceland and Costa Rica. Anyone interested in booking please contact Fidget Feet.
