Raw
RAW is about human limits and what we find out about ourselves when we dare to cross the boundaries. The story concerns five young people led by the pulsing music, the intoxicating atmosphere and friendly rivalry they push themselves to the edge. Fidget Feet mixes contemporary dance with aerial skills using poles, ropes, and harness flying with original music by Jym Daly mixing live as the DJ.
Raw will Premiere at The Junction Festival in Clonmel, Tipperary in Ireland with a preview on the 4th and shows from 5th – 7th July 2008. This is a performance with a difference. A site-specific show being made in Clonmel from May 15th working and performing in an empty warehouse space.
The Irish Arts Council has funded the creation of Raw as part of a new project award.
The Firkin Crane in Cork, Ireland has sponsored and supported the development of Raw. In 2007 Raw was supported by Cork Mid Summer Fest and Firkin Crane to start research and development. The Choreographers Initiative supported 2 weeks of work at Dance House in December 2007. In 2008 the Firkin Crane offered another 3 weeks of space and Dance Base Edinburgh, Scotland has supported Raw with a 1-week residency in March 2008 and are hoping to support Raw in 2009 as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
