Hatch

Ages 4-10

Meet Bláithín “she loves caterpillars, moths and butterflies”. Follow her on her adventurous journey with Uncle Rusty to find Pearl, the most extraordinary butterfly with the most exquisite colourful wings. Learn all about two little caterpillars and their journey to fly as moths and butterflies. Hatch is full of Fidget Feet’s unique blend of music, comedy, theatre, contemporary dance and aerial dance. Hatch weaves craft workshops, Irish language and Irish dancing into this wonderful story for 4 – 10 year olds and their families. If you enjoyed our other work for children, The Elves and the Shoemaker and Strange Feathers, then you will thoroughly enjoy Hatch. Made in association with Siamsa Tíre and Shortworks Network, Ireland and support from the Arts Council of Ireland.

“Lovely storytelling and music. Nice to see and be so close to the show.”

– Parent at Siamsa Tíre premiere

“Lovely to have the kids on stage, very unusual to have that opportunity.”

– Parent at Siamsa Tíre premiere

“A magical performance keeping both children and parents immersed in their world full of soothing sounds and dialogs that can be meaningful from 5-50 years old. The actors are so committed to the roles they play it was easy to forget that they were acting and the aerial dance is stunning.”

– Magdalena Grupa, Parent

“I loved this show! I know it was for 4 to 10 year olds but this granny loved it. The aerial work was fascinating. The story was beautifully and simply told.”

– Audience

There are three different versions of Hatch; immersive, staged, and outdoors. In January 2020 Fidget Feet performed an outdoor version of Hatch as part of The Fringe Festival in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. Fidget Feet can tour this show to any outdoor setting, park, woods, gardens, etc. In 2021 Fidget Feet went on tour with a stage version of the show.

Funding of Hatch

In 2015 The Ark supported Chantal as part of their Hatch programme and the idea for the show was born. Hatch is made in association with the Irish Aerial Creation Centre, and received financial support in Spring 2018 from the Shortworks Network; Draíocht, Linenhall Arts Centre, Riverbank Arts Centre and The Ark, to support the research and development stage of the production. The Hatch 2019 tour is produced by Siamsa Tíre and supported by a touring grant from the Arts Council of Ireland.
